Bio

Indigo is Senior Lecturer in Professional & Creative Writing in the School of Communication & Creative Arts at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia, where she has worked since 1998. She has also taught at the University of Melbourne and Monash University.

Indigo teaches fiction and life writing, and has special interests in multidisciplinary and multi-modal creative arts, spanning writing and dance, music, visual arts, animation.

Her PhD, awarded in 2001, comprised a book-length creative writing component and exegesis, exploring the subject of the nexus of creative writing and higher research practices.

Current research projects encompass practice-led research collaborating with dance and animation researchers and working with improvisational performance practices.

Indigo’s academic research interests include practice-led research, creative research, multidisciplinary creative arts practices, writing as performance, life writing, trauma, grief and personal and social transformation in the creative arts. Indigo is an active supervisor and examiner of students at honours, Masters and PhD levels.
